ART FURNITURE, 2006

“Challenged by my high school construction teacher, Peter Boeckh, to build a table inspired by our interests and to think outside the box, I naturally gravitated toward my love of painting.

The Concept emerged quickly - a traditional artist’s palette balanced on three crossed paintbrushes — the top crafted from laminated hard maple, with legs turned from soft maple.

My first commission came from my math teacher, Fred Ferneyhough, who asked me to build an identical twin: a left-handed palette for his wife’s retirement gift, fellow math teacher Linda Ferneyhough.

The entire experience gave me the confidence to pursue a career in architecture.” — SB
