we are a full service design office that works closely with a range of clients and consultants on everything architecture. New Builds, Extensions and Additions, and Renovations - Concept through Design Development and Project Management to Completion. Our Portfolio includes residential, commercial and institutional work. we believe strongly in the power of architecture to transform our connection to the important things in life. our process is rooted in collaboration and a deep respect for the people and places we build for.

Meet the Founder
Saarinen Balagengatharadilak is an architectural designer and educator based in Toronto, where he leads Studio Balagen. With over a decade of experience navigating the complexities of the built environment, he is committed to understanding client needs to develop elegant, dignified, & feasible solutions.
He graduated with a master of architecture with high distinction and bachelor of arts with honours majoring in architecture and urban studies from the university of toronto.
he grew up working with his father - an accomplished hindu temple artist, on temples all over the greater toronto area. it was this exposure to the art and craft of working with community to build shared sacred spaces and Restoring Temples that shaped his own path in architecture.
He has taught undergraduate and graduate studios in architecture at the university of waterloo and university of toronto where he enjoys working with and learning from students.
studio balagen is situated at the mouth of the don river, in the west don lands.
