The Egg Chair, 2007
Blurring the Line Between Furniture and Space.
Designed in 2007, this 5 Foot tall, 3.5 foot wide Egg Chair invites you to step inside rather than simply sit. A protective, soft enclosure is a microcosm of space -
Referencing the Origin and Comfort of one of Life’s first Architectures.
Within it’s shell, sound quiets, light softens, and the world narrows to a gentle interior.
An Object and Space - to inhabit.
The process of making quarter round fiberglass shells using a hand carved laminated foam mold. eventually joined to form a complete egg form, before cutting an opening and stiffened by a Spruce edge.
